I moved to Nashville a year and half ago with only the items that would fit in my car. I left behind my favorite truck that was like my soulmate because it died on the back roads in Virginia. My 5 year relationship had abruptly ended and I would either, buy my Moms general store in Rockbridge County VA, or go sing my songs in Nashville TN.
Nashville called because it's a songwriters town and that is the language I speak. It wasn't starting from scratch because I knew I had my voice and my songs. I have been fortunate to write with some of the best writers in the world. John Paul White and I wrote "If I Didn't Know Better" which landed on the tv show Nashville as the theme song for the first few months. Wesley Schultz (Lead singer of The Lumineers) and I wrote and recorded my last album Loose Ends together. I've played shows with BB King, Willie Nelson, Sugarman Rodriguez, Gary Clark Jr, The Civil Wars, Maggie Rogers and many more. My music has since been on tv shows across all streaming platforms and major tv networks.
Songwriting has been the one thing in life that has opened doors for me unexpectedly. In college, it was only when I auditioned with my own songs that I wound up in productions. My professor at the time said it was a sign. Click below to continue reading...
